Meet our leadership team

Thomas Hopson
PresidentThomas Hopson is an accomplished business executive with over 30 years of experience in the medical device industry. Thomas has provided leadership to multi-million-dollar business enterprises in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and he has successfully transformed multiple struggling organizations into healthy and thriving businesses. He joined Bioplate as President in 2018, bringing with him an extensive background in sales, business development, organizational learning and product commercialization. Before joining Bioplate, Thomas served as the Director, Global Talent Management & Learning at Edwards Life Sciences. Prior to Edwards, Thomas held various leadership positions at St. Jude Medical.
Thomas is passionate about giving back to the youth in underserved communities. He has been an avid supporter of several organizations dedicated to serving our youth, including Boys and Girls Club, Mentor Up, Ambassador of Compassion, Boys Town USA, Fathers and Sons Speak and various other community organizations.

Erin Hickey
Vice President of Business OperationsErin Hickey is a veteran medical device executive with more than a decade of multidisciplinary experience in the field. He has held positions of increasing responsibility, beginning his career in research and development, where he focused primarily on novel polymer devices and biologics. After guiding the successful launch of a synthetic bone graft substitute, Erin joined Bioplate and transitioned into manufacturing, leading production efforts across a diverse portfolio of medical devices. In 2013, he pivoted to sales and business development, directing a major expansion of Bioplate’s global distribution network. In 2018, Erin joined Bioplate’s leadership team as Vice President of Business Operations, where he plays a key role setting and driving strategic initiatives across all departments.

Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager will build and maintain distributor relationships, establish price structure, and provide product training to clients.
Essential Functions:
- Function as subject matter expert to prospects, clients, and departmental leaders on issues relating to sales
- Launch and execute strategies and tactics within assigned territory to maximize market growth penetration in targeted physician offices and hospitals
- Ensure that distributors have the resources needed to sell Bioplate products
- Collaborate closely with sales team in evaluating pricing and profitability models, determine appropriate means of improving margins and strategic development efforts
- Evaluate the industry trends for potential impact on the organization
- Conduct market research and analysis to determine need for products
- Function as a liaison with specific customers to develop and provide training and marketing assistance
- Monitor competitive activity and provides analysis of their effect in the marketplace.
- Identifying necessary trade shows and leading trade show activities
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a similar field
- 5-10 years of successful sales experience in the medical device industry (Preferably neurosurgery or spine)
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to focus and align organizations around critical initiatives
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet
- Excellent verbal and written communication

Bioplate is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Accounting Associate interested in becoming part of our growing accounting team. As a member of the Accounting & Finance team, the candidate will focus on monthly, quarterly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting. The position will provide financial guidance and business partnership to the Centers of Expertise (COEs) leadership teams.
Essential Functions:
- Assisting monthly financial statements package by reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
- Providing outside auditors with assistance - gathers necessary account information and documents to perform quarterly audit.
- Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis.
- Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management.
- Providing management decision support through ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Assisting in managing timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including quarterly audits, projects, special assignments, and administrative activities.
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- In pursuit of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a relevant certification preferred.
- 1+ year of experience performing financial analysis in support of external audit.
- 1+ year of experience in accounting (Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP).
